Software Leasing
One of the best examples is the reclamation of unused licensed software and creation of software pools for end users to “rent”. This has been a huge win for the organization. It allows the company to only purchase licenses that they need to use while concurrently reducing the cost of software licenses for every user.
Reclaiming Licenses
System One Digital created a process where we audit all PCs in an organization to help identify trends. This enables us to uncover any licensed software that is not being used. We find software that was installed on user’s PCs, but data that shows it was not used, or used very little.
Software Pool
Another thing that System One identified, was that users do not always need software for long periods of time. Sometimes users need an application for the duration of a project, or to test something new and then will no longer need the software after a specific time. System One was then able to create a software pool for IT.
Decommissioning
Unused Software
System One was able to identify high cost software renewals that could be decommissioned by using other technologies that were already deployed. We analyze software and find opportunities to decommission or re-purpose the various services and servers.
